Taking the name ACL Laboratories in 1997 when several established laboratories merged, ACL continues a 40-year tradition of providing a full range of lab services.  It is operated jointly by Aurora Health Care, Wisconsin's largest integrated health care delivery system, and Advocate Health Care, the largest integrated health care system in Chicago, Illinois.

ACL is a unique clinical laboratory that can draw on the resources of two major health care systems while providing a complete range of analytical services, including drugs of abuse testing, molecular diagnostics and metals/environmental testing.

We also offer 24-hour turnaround on most routine lab tests, including toxicology, environmental and specialty tests.

ACL is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and is certified in accordance with the Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act (CLIA) and the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Its staff includes board-certified pathologists, PhD chemists and microbiologists, registered medical technologists/technicians, cytotechnologists, histotechnicians and specialists in information technology.

Anatomic Pathology/Cytopathology
Anatomic pathology services are provided by two established and respected pathology groups. Great Lakes Pathology and Midwest Diagnostic Pathology, which gives ACL access to a panel of more than 70 board-certified pathologists.

Clinical Services
ACL is a full-service, clinical laboratory, offering phlebotomy, therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs of abuse testing, hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, biological and environmental testing, cytology/histology, immunohematology, molecular diagnostics, endocrinology, mycology, parasitology, serology and other specialized testing.

Metals and Environmental Testing
ACL has been providing biological monitoring and environmental testing since 1967, with particular expertise in blood lead and other heavy metals analyses. With close to 35 years of experience, ACL has developed a national reputation for its blood lead analyses and its technical consultation regarding OSHA requirements.

Drugs of Abuse Testing
ACL is a fully licensed and accredited toxicology laboratory that offers a full line of substance abuse screening services, including assistance with the development and implementation of comprehensive substance abuse testing programs. ACL has 20 years of experience in drugs of abuse testing and is certified through the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA). Its coordinated client-focused services include:

Nursing Facility Services
ACL offers a superior array of services designed to assist with patient care in the nursing facility or group home setting. ACL has developed many policies and procedures to meet the specialized needs of the patients and nursing services in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
